NPR appearance on 'Performance Today'
December 2012

Dear friends near and far,
an exciting and eventful year is coming to an end. To all those who have been supporting me along the way: thank you!
Recently, I was invited to Minnsota Public Radio for an interview and performance, which will air nationally on Christmas Eve. The interview with Performance Today's Fred Child turned out to be very up-close and personal, and I enjoyed every minute of it - talking about Christmas as a child in the German Democratic Republic, Socialism and religion, and of course: the Christmas music on the album we produced this year with Scott Tennant and others at Guitar Salon International in Santa Monica.

If you are located in the United States, tune into your local NPR or classical station on Christmas Eve.
Or go online, listen to the show and watch some video of me playing.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a wonderful and healthy new year 2013! Eva Beneke

The scholarly studies, such as Comparative Music Analysis and Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century Music Business, serve the important role of developing an understanding of music and a life in the arts beyond the profound study of Classical guitar performance. Graduates receiving McNally Smith College of Music’s M.M. in Classical Guitar Performance with an emphasis on music production, business and marketing are prepared to pursue a professional career in music or possible further study at the doctoral level.

The 1952 Hauser I recording sessions

May 19, 2012
During the last weeks, I´ve set up camp at Guitar Salon International in Santa Monica. The friendly folks over there, especially David Collett and Kai Narezo - but really everyone - have been extremely supportive and decided to help me produce my new CD which will come out later this year. It all started when I first fell in love with a beautiful Herman Hauser I guitar, a rare and special instrument with a lot of character that was loaned to me for the sessions by a very generous collector. The musicians playing with me are among the best I could think of, and I feel fortunate to be able to work with each one of them: Scott Tennant - guitar, Moni Simeonov - violin, Lars Hoefs - cello, Phil Popham - oboe. Recording engineer is Kai Narezo. Wow!

"In Dulci Jubilo" - A Classical Guitar Christmas will be released this Fall, and contains arrangements of my favorite German and English Christmas tunes - contributed by Mark Small (an amazing arranger who, among many other things, arranged one of the songs on LAGQ’s Grammy winning Guitar Heroes album) and by myself.
Stay tuned for more updates and infos on how to pre-order the album.

New video: Bach in L.A.

March 2012
Living in L.A., the hustle and famous "vibe" of the city has been an inspiration. On busy days, I stop for a minute on the rooftop of the Shrine parking lot to enjoy the downtown skyline - a private get away which recently became the main location for my new music video! It has been shot and directed by Rosa G HustleGirl, photographer and video director. She comes from a rap and hip-hop background and I thought it would be exciting to see what her perspective can add to my playing of Bach´s Prelude from the 6th Cello suite.

Pause the music player in the upper left corner of this site first and...enjoy!

La Bella strings

March 2011
My music takes me to ever new places this spring season! After visiting Frank Koonce at Arizona State University in Tempe and giving a lecture to the students there about "Music and the business", I am now following an invitation by the Central Coast Guitar Society to play in the beautiful hillside of Central California. Tune in for a live-interview on the day of my concert: March 17 on KCBX, 2pm Pacific Day Time.

As of this month I am thrilled to be officially a part of the La Bella strings family of endorsers! It is a huge honor to be included in the circle of fantastic artists endorsing La Bella products, such as Eliot Fisk, Andy York, Adam del Monte, Gilberto Gil, Brian Bromberg, to name only a few. My heartfelt thanks go to Bob Archigian from La Bella!

American Country Music Awards 2010 in Las Vegas

Playing for Carrie Underwood at the 2010 American Country Music Awards

April 18, 2010
Carrie´s No. 1 song "Temporary Home" was arranged for classical ensemble and performed live in front of 20.000 people at the MGM Grand Hotel. The ACM Awards are also broadcasted live on national TV (CBS)- what a great show! Carrie also won "Entertainer of the year" that night for the second time.
Our band Yana Reznik (piano), Tina Guo (cello) and Neli Nikolaeva (violin) had four great days in Las Vegas, rehearsals with Carrie, and I met all kinds of amazing Country-musicians - just an amazing opportunity!
